i’m sorry but this is ridiculous. if people weren’t penalised for missing classes then they wouldn’t attend At All so really, it’s in their best interests. rather than abolishing attendance requirements entirely, if someone were really struggling as the tweet suggests, they should approach their professor personally and ask for an exception.
If missing a class you’re paying for isn’t punishment enough, then the class isn’t teaching anything except obedience to authority.
Incidentally, on every occasion I asked for an exception, I was refused.
